Fire Island Beach

Last weekend I visited Fire Island for the first time out in the southern part of Long Island. With the cooler weather, the island was so peaceful as most of summer crowd had trickled out. Before I went, I had always perceived the island as frat central, with lots of parties and beer everywhere. But it was totally not what I expected! It felt more like a sanctuary away from the city, and we did fun island activities such as riding bicycles, taking long walks on the beach, and exploring a forest.
These photos were taken during a very windy walk on the beach, as you can tell from my crazy looking hair! But isn’t the view beautiful? There was almost no one else there except for our group, so it was perfect for taking photos. For my outfit, I definitely wanted to be comfortable, so I chose white jeans and an oversized men’s shirt, layered with two jackets as I wasn’t sure what the weather would be like. And I’m wearing my Nike high-tops which I haven’t worn all summer, so this was a great occasion to break them out of the closet.
Thanks for reading,
Mary
