My hair has always been a bane in my existence. Having super thin and fine Asian hair, I’ve struggled all my life with getting my hair to look anything other than flat. So when I was asked to try out the Diamond dual voltage flat iron from Irresistible Me, I jumped at the chance to do something new with my hair. It was surprisingly easy to straighten and curl my hair with the flat iron. Today I’ll be showing you an easy how-to in achieving both flat iron hairstyles.
For reference, this is what my hair looked like before using the flat iron.
Step 1: Apply smoothing serum to hair to prevent and tame frizz.
Step 2: Heat up the flat iron. The Irresistible Me flat iron took about 1-2 minutes to fully heat up. There are different levels of heat that you can set digitally on the iron. Since my hair is super fine and naturally straight, I set it to level 2.
Step 3: Place hair between flat iron and gently slide down. I like to slightly flip in the ends, which you can do by just bending the flat iron towards your face. Repeat if needed.
And voila! This is what my hair looked like after straightening. The whole process took about 5 minutes once the iron was heated up. I only needed to put the iron through my hair once, but this may differ if you have naturally curly hair. Obviously not a huge difference for me since my hair is naturally straight, but you can see that I flipped in the ends for a more stylized look. This is great for those days when your hair is just not behaving and going in all different directions!
Now onto the fun part! The curly hair process is admittedly more complicated, especially on my stick straight hair. I’ve never been good at curling my hair and was apprehensive on whether I could make it work with a flat iron. Surprisingly, it turned out to be not so bad, hopefully you’ll feel the same after I walk you through my steps.
Step 1: Heat up the flat iron. In my case the iron was already hot from straightening, but I upped the voltage by one more level since I figured more heat was needed to curl my hair.
Step 2: Place hair between the flat iron like you would when straightening
Step 3: Pull the flat iron away from your face while wrapping your hair around the iron.
Step 4: Repeat towards the bottom hair of your hair for a more defined curl.
The curly hair process definitely look longer as I had to put the flat iron 2-3 times through my hair for a defined curl. This will of course differ if you have naturally wavy hair (lucky you!). The difference I find between using a flat iron to curl hair versus a curling wand is that the flat iron creates bigger and looser curls. You can see below what my hair looked like after curling.
I couldn’t resist taking a few “glamour” shots with my new voluminous hairstyle. Overall, I had a great experience with the dual voltage flat iron. The iron is light and easy to use, and I’m also a fan of the sleek design. I hope you’ve enjoyed this flat iron hairstyles post! I’m slowly integrating more beauty posts into the blog, so let me know what you think and if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see.

I use a wand as well for tighter curls, but the flatiron I’ve found is good for looser, bigger curls!
