Throughout this NYFW, I mostly stuck with the same hair and makeup look so that I could focus on my outfits. I couldn’t have made it through the week without my tried and true products, so today I’m sharing with you my hair and makeup essentials. My look consisted of beachy waves and dewy skin accented with fun eye makeup and a rosy lip.
For my hair, I couldn’t have lived without the HerStyler curling wand. The wand is super easy to use and creates beachy, effortless waves. I love the effect that it has with my balayage, the waves make the color look so much more pronounced and textured. The great thing about the wand is that it comes with a glove so you don’t burn your hands. Being the klutz I am, I’m so glad this is included. So what if I look like a dork in the photos? 🙂
It takes me about 10 minutes to do my whole hair with the wand. I like to place the wand downwards towards my face and wrap my hair around it. I’m still experimenting with it and figuring out the best angle, so it takes me a bit longer. Overall I really like the effect that the wand creates and I think it goes well with my shoulder-length hair. After curling, I spray my hair with the HerStyler hairspray for extra definition and hold on my curls.
For my makeup, I always start with my Laura Mercier hydrating primer. Then I apply Dr. Jart Water Fuse BB cream. I like to keep my foundation light as I hate the feeling of caked-on makeup. I finish my face with a Bobbi Brown pressed powder, and for a dewy and glowy effect, I dust the Becca shimmery powder over my cheekbones.
For my eyes, I’ve been using the Urban Decay Naked3 eyeshadow palette since it came out and have never strayed. It has all the pink and rose gold shades I love and is super feminine, which goes perfectly with my style. I like to draw more attention to my eyes, so I also use an Urban Decay eyeliner in electric blue. It adds a nice pop of color and is eclectic without being over the top.
I’ve also recently finally learned how to do the winged eyeliner look after watching a million Youtube videos. The trick is to do the winged part first before filling in the rest of the liner. I’ve learned that it’s best to use a product that gives you more control, so I’ve been trying this Tarteist clay paint eyeliner that comes with a little brush. It really allows you to be precise with the lines.
Lastly, I never leave the house without a pretty lipstick. I’ve been alternating between a Bobbi Brown one for a rosy lip, and a MAC one for a matte look. And that’s it for my hair and makeup routine! Below you can see the finished look and shop all my essentials.
