It’s that time of year again…the day to dress up as anyone or anything to your heart’s desire! When it comes to Halloween, I’ve never been a big fan of the scary costumes or anything too obvious. I mean, could you really imagine me as a ghost or with blood on my face?! I can’t. For me, Halloween has always been about being able to take fashion to another level and dress up in a way that perhaps I wouldn’t in every day life. So for this Halloween, I thought what better idea than to channel Kate Middleton style and do a classy Halloween costume that can also be worn again. I think the best part about this costume is that I didn’t have to get anything specifically for the costume, and all the pieces are items I would have in my closet naturally.
If it’s important to you to not have to compromise style for a Halloween costume, a Kate Middleton outfit might just be the perfect idea for you. To achieve the Kate Middleton look, you need these essential pieces:
With these pieces, you could imitate so many Kate Middleton outfits. The possibilities are endless! The key is to channel your inner princess and dress like you’re about to meet the Queen of England (quoting the boyfriend).
For my Kate Middleton inspired outfit, I went with a pink coat from Dezzal embellished with bowties, because what better way to channel my inner princess than bowties right? This coat is so quintessentially Kate Middleton, and the best part is it’s only $73! For the quality and style, I think that’s quite a bargain. I paired the coat with a feminine lace dress also from Dezzal – make sure the dress you choose is shorter than the coat so that it doesn’t peek out underneath. For those of you wondering what Dezzal is, it’s an online retailer based in Asia selling trendy and moderately affordable pieces. Unlike some of the other Asian retailers, Dezzal’s clothes are high quality and look expensive. You can check out their aesthetic on their Instagram or Facebook page.
For my accessories, I chose a pink hat that I got in Asia, a vintage clutch, vintage pointy toe pumps, and a vintage pink navajo ring. I also took note of Kate Middleton’s makeup and hairstyle, opting for neutral toned makeup with pink tones on the eyeshadow and lips, and a wavy half-up hairstyle. Successfully achieving an imitation look is all about the details, so make sure to pay attention to those little things!
