When Thanksgiving comes around most people are probably thinking about what to make for Thanksgiving dinner and what table decor to go with, but being the true fashion blogger I am, my first thought is always what to wear and where to shop. A little secret about me – I don’t have a domestic bone in my body, and I hate cooking, cleaning, and anything related to household chores. I’d much rather work on my blog all day than do any of those things. How I feel about grocery shopping is probably how some people feel about shopping for clothes: overwhelmed and ready to go home the moment I step in the store. Yup, whoever ends up being my future hubby better be the domestic one. So anyways, the priority for me is how to have a stylish Thanksgiving, and be able to eat your heart out but still look cute.
For a comfy yet chic outfit, one of my go-to pieces is a sweater dress. I love a sweater dress because it’s so easy, and is soft and has the room to stretch for when you’re about to have a big meal. It’s also effortlessly stylish, and you really can’t go wrong with a sweater dress. For my look, I decided to layer the dress under a vintage denim jacket. I’m apologizing in advance for the multiple shots of this denim jacket, but I am just in love with it. I scored the jacket at Metropolis Vintage in East Village, immediately falling in love with the cute cat and heart prints on the side and back of the jacket. If there was ever a denim jacket meant for my style, this is it. This is actually my first denim jacket since high school, so it really says a lot that I decided to buy it. Side note, Metropolis Vintage also has a great selection of Ugly Christmas sweaters at affordable prices, so if you’re looking for one go check them out. I spotted one with ice skates that I was so tempted to get since I used to figure skate. Too bad I don’t have an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party to attend.
Layering a jacket over the sweater dress is also great because it allows you to adjust your look throughout the day depending on the temperature. Sitting by the fireplace indoors? Take off the denim jacket. Taking a walk outside after stuffing yourself? Throw on that jacket. I love the versatility of it. For the rest of the look, I chose leather boots from Vionic that are super comfortable and my Kate Spade bag that can fit an iPad mini or magazine for entertainment if needed. I kept my jewelry simple and just went with my Hermes watch for a functional and chic look.
When it comes to where to shop on Black Friday, the possibilities are endless. A few weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to go on a shopping day at Tanger Outlets hosted by Southern Living Magazine with Kayla from Kayla’s 5 Things. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of quality stores at Tanger, and especially enjoyed Saks Off 5th. They had an amazing selection of designer pieces and I scored a gorgeous Badgley Mischka blush pink coat at a fourth of the original price. So for Black Friday, Tanger Outlets has some amazing deals with some stores up to 60% off already discounted items! So if you’re looking for a place to shop on Black Friday that has multiple stores, Tanger could be a great option for you. There are multiple locations throughout the country, you can check their store locator here.
If going to the outlets and joining in the the Black Friday madness is not your thing, I’ll be rounding up the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday online sales on Wednesday, so stay tuned for that post!
