Continuing the holiday outfit series, if you’re not sure what to wear to a holiday party, look no further than a velvet dress! This vintage velvet dress is one of my most treasured finds to date, I almost could not believe my luck in finding this piece. I scored this dress at my favorite vintage shop Edith Machinist in the LES. That place seriously never disappoints, and I walked away with this dress as well as a vintage velvet denim jacket that will be featured on the blog very soon. I fell in love with this dress because not only is it velvet, but it’s purple, one of my favorite colors! I also like the retro mod style shape that reminds of me of Twiggy. Lastly, the dress is super warm and perfect for Winter as the velvet is a very thick material.
So when it comes to dressing for a holiday party this season, there are a few key pieces I like to incorporate:
For my look, since the velvet dress is sleeveless I layered it over a black lace turtleneck for extra warmth. I paired the dress with red lace-up heels for a festive and feminine touch, and finished the look with over-the-top accessories. I chose a vintage suede mustard handbag for an extra pop of color, a red statement ring to match my red shoes, and a pearl necklace of for a super girly vibe. I even dressed up my nails with white polish and a pop of pink on the pinky nail. The result is a fun and colorful look that will put anyone in the holiday mood!
