Styling a Spring dress for the Winter is not as hard as you think. It’s all about layering and getting creative. When I received this gorgeous layered dress with an embroidered bird print, I knew that I wanted to go casual and make it boho style chic. The organza material, bird print, and midi length give the dress an ethereal quality, which I thought would be perfect for a boho look. Since the sleeves are so pretty with the print and sheer organza, I decided to layer a sleeveless sweater on top to let the sleeves show. This sweater is especially fitting because not only is it sleeveless, it’s also open on the sides, making it a perfect piece for layering when you don’t want to hide what’s underneath. The colors of burgundy and navy are also complimentary and work well together.
For a boho style outfit, asides from layering, the accessories are key. A fedora hat or wide-brim hat is always an easy way to add an instant bohemian effect. Ankle boots in a brown, black, or taupe color is also essential to give the outfit that rugged, free-spirit vibe. A suede handbag with artsy details is effortless with a creative touch. Lastly, it’s all about the jewelry. Choose pieces that are a little outside of the lines, like a wood watch paired with a men’s gold cuff bracelet, and stack on as many rings as you want. A boho style look is all about being effortless and embracing the idea of no rules. Experiment and put together items that you wouldn’t necessarily think go together at first glance, and the effect may surprise you in a good way!
For my outfit, I chose a fedora style hat from Anthropologie, brown ankle boots, and a small bag I found at the flea market in Argentina. I layered two delicate necklaces for that free-spirit effect, and wore my JORD wood watch and a variety of rings. I’m planning on styling this dress differently for a cocktail hour in Spring, so it’ll be interesting to show you guys how you can take one dress and make it look completely different.
