As my style has evolved, I’ve been really into pants lately as opposed to skirts. Of course I’m still super feminine, but there’s something so effortless about throwing on a pair of jeans. What’s not so effortless is finding jeans that fit me just right. Since I’m on the shorter side, many of the jeans I own are too long for me, and other pairs become too big and lose their form over time. So I was so happy to finally discover the perfect jeans from AG, a brand known for its denim. This high-waisted, vintage wash pair with a stepped hem fits me like a glove and is perfect for everyday wear. I like that the fit is not super tight, giving it a lived in and effortless feel. I will admit that this is actually my first pair of non-skinny jeans. There was always something off about the fit of straight cut jeans that I could never pull off, but apparently I just had not discovered the right pair!
For a downtown casual chic look, I paired the jeans with a silk striped tank also from AG. Like the jeans, the tank has an easy breezy vibe and goes with everything. To play up the stripes, I paired the tank with a vintage striped blazer for a touch of sophistication. You all know I love matching, so I chose striped wedges from Poetic Licence to match with the striped blazer and tank. Poetic Licence is one of my favorite shoe brands of all time. You might recognize them from the red lace-up heels that I wear all the time, like here and here. Their shoes are so uniquely designed and feminine, and there are always beautiful details that make each pair so special. If you’re eyeing the wedges I’m wearing, you can get 15% off any order from Poetic Licence with code layersofchic.
I completed the outfit with classic jewelry, including a gold Timex watch with a polka dot band, dainty layered necklaces, and gold rings. Since the outfit is pretty casual, I elevated the look with my Celine ring bag for a touch of luxe. Who says you can’t look like a million bucks in jeans? It’s all about mixing in the right statement pieces to create a look that’s casual yet chic at the same time. And of course having the right pair of jeans is essential.
