For those of you who have been following my Carrie Bradshaw style series, you may have been wondering when I would recreate her famous tutu skirt outfit that she wears in the opening scene of SATC. I’ve been wanting to do this look for a while now, but needed to get the right pieces in place. I wanted to go with a more modern take on her outfit, so read on to see how I reinterpreted her look.
CLASSIC CARRIE BRADSHAW STYLE OUTFIT: KEY ELEMENTS
The Tutu Skirt: Carrie’s tutu skirt outfit is pretty much famous amongst SATC fans. It is instantly recognizable, and to this day the tutu skirt is synonymous with Carrie Bradshaw’s style. Of course the tutu skirt is essential, but I decided to go with a slightly different version for a more modern version. When I saw this tiered style tutu skirt from Sammy Dress, I immediately knew it would be perfect for the Carrie look. I would actually call it more of a tulle skirt rather than tutu skirt since it’s not as poufy. I love the romantic vibe of the skirt and I think the tiers give it an extra level of sophistication.
The Pink Tank Top: So for this element, I chose something extra special. This tank top that I’m wearing is actually designed by me, and I’m giving you guys the first sneak peek! I’ve designed a line of three shirts and this is one of them, so stay tuned for the official launch and details in the next few weeks. The color of this tank is more of a mauve color than classic pink, but I think it works well with the feminine vibe of the outfit
The Glitter Heels: The perfect way to complete this outfit is with a pair of whimsical, ultra-feminine heels. I had just the right pair with my blush pink velvet sandals that actually have a glitter heel. The key to nailing Carrie’s look is to think a little outside the norm and get into that dreamy mindset. This is not a look for everyday, it is a look for a fairytale.
For my jewelry, I wanted to keep it classic and elegant. I added just the right amount of bling with a pair of gorgeous gold plated flower earrings from AUrate New York. These earrings are so delicate and dainty, and are just the right size to add a little sparkle. AUrate makes all their jewelry in NYC and for every pair sold, they give a book to an underprivileged child. Their pieces are high quality and the designs are minimalist and classic with a unique edge. To complete the look I paired the earrings with a vintage pink ring and rose gold bangle.
As mentioned, this T-shirt is designed by me, and I came up with the phrase “I Don’t Do Casual.” I will save the explanation on that for the official launch, but let me know your thoughts on this shirt and if you like it. I’m super excited to show you the rest of the line and I can’t wait to share the meaning behind this shirt with you!
