What I Wore to the NY Auto Show: Girl’s Night Out

Last night I attended the NY Auto Show with some of my favorite bloggers for an unconventional Girl’s Night Out hosted by SheBuysCars. I will be the first to admit that I don’t know a thing about cars. In fact, I can’t even drive! Well technically I can drive since I have a license, but I’ve only driven for 2 years in my life in college, and haven’t driven since I graduated. So it’s been 5 years, and I was a pretty bad driver, which all my college friends can attest to. I didn’t know what to expect from the night, but I actually had a pretty good time learning about the car brands and checking out different models. My favorite was the vintage cars that we saw at the end of the night. You all know I love vintage, and I would totally learn to drive again for a vintage car.

We started at the Toyota section, where there we enjoyed food and drinks while learning about Toyota. My first memory of a car is actually Toyota, as this is the car that my family had growing up. We saw a cool redesigned Toyota Camry coming out in 2018 with new technology such as panoramic glass roofs, built-in wifi, dynamic navigation, and remote unlock and lock access. It promises better performance and better handling, with all the standard safety features that Toyota has always had. There was also a sick “car-of-the-future” Toyota that looked like it came straight out of a James Bond movie. But of course my favorite Toyota car was the Monster M&M themed one, how can anyone not like a car with candy on it?!

Next we moved onto the Genesis section, where we saw sleek designs and gorged ourselves with champagne and chocolates. The outfit I chose felt quite appropriate for the night. I wanted to look cool and edgy, a little different from my usual feminine style. So I went with my H&M Kenzo top with statement sleeves, black jeans, and my new MM6 loafers thanks to Farfetch. My top was definitely a hit and perfect for the event, and I had multiple people coming up to me throughout the night commenting on it. To add a pop of color, I completed the outfit with my red Cocovann bag.

We finished our girl’s night out at the Volvo section, where we saw some amazing vintage cars. I couldn’t help but photo whore a little, and the best part was when I was able to “accidentally” get inside the back of the blue car. Afterwards we found out this was not allowed, but the back handle was open so I couldn’t help myself, and it was totally worth it for the photos. That’s blogger life for you, I’ll do anything to get a good photo!

Leaving the best part for last, you can enter to win one of six Kate Spade handbags, sponsored in part by Toyota and SheBuysCars. Kate Spade is one of favorite brands and I wear their bags all the time, and now you can win one for yourself! To enter to win, snap a photo with a participating car brand (Toyota, Mazada, Genesis or Hyundai) and post to social using the hashtag #HandbagChallengeNYIAS.

I know this post is different from my usual ones, so I’d love to hear what you think. Would you like to see more event coverage type posts, or should I stick to my outfit and beauty posts? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for reading,

Mary
