Some days I wake up and decide to dress like I’m in a fairytale. I love the idea of dressing as a modern day fairytale princess, because sometimes life needs a bit of whimsy and imagination. The inspiration for this outfit came from the baby’s breath floral crown I’m wearing. This is actually a bridal headpiece from a Canadian-based brand Olivia The Wolf. I fell in love with the delicate pearls and intricate details. I might not be getting married, but I sure do look good in this headband!
This headpiece inspired me to put together an ethereal outfit fit for a modern day fairytale. I’ve been saving this romantic blouse from For Love And Lemons for a special look, and this felt like the right time. The leaf detail on this blouse is insanely gorgeous, as are the soft ruffles and exaggerated sleeves. If you have a romantic date or special occasion coming up, this blouse is currently on sale for 40% off on Farfetch. But hurry, because there’s only one left in stock!
Matching the romantic vibe of the blouse, I paired it with a Paris printed midi skirt from Chicwish. This is exactly the kind of skirt I had in mind to go with the blouse, so I was pretty happy to come across this piece. I love the whimsical quality of this skirt and the soft pastel colors. I definitely could have sized up though, I’m wearing a Size S and the waist is tight. Luckily I shot these photos at 7AM before I had eaten anything.
To play off of the leaf detailing on the blouse, I chose Stella & Dot feather leaf earrings that seem to be destined for this blouse. I am totally digging the combination of the floral headband, feather earrings, and the gold leaf neckline of the blouse. I love this shot so much I want to have it framed! I completed the outfit with silver pumps for a classic touch. Since princesses in fairytales don’t hold their own stuff, I opted to not have a purse for this look. Lastly, if you’re wondering where I shot these photos, this is on the Highline close to the 20th street entrance. I wanted a setting with lots of greenery, but at the same time some city elements for a modern vibe.
