Do I look different to you?!! If I do, that’s because I finally refreshed my hair this past weekend with new balayage highlights and a haircut. I got my hair done at Arrojo Salon, known for their balayage hair techniques. I went to their Williamsburg location, which is the newest one and has a cool industrial vibe to it. I had not touched my hair in a year, so I was definitely in desperate need of a refresh in both my cut and color. I love a blond-based balayage because it’s low maintenance and looks great against my warmer skin tone. Of course with Asian hair it doesn’t get quite as blonde in the first session, but my colorist Lauren used the strongest color formula and did manage to get a few blonder highlights in there. I’m also obsessed with the easy breezy mid-length haircut my stylist Nicole gave me. It adds so much more volume to my hair and is just perfect for Summer! I’m planning on going back for a second session to get my highlights even lighter.
After my 3 hour session at the salon, the plan was to shoot my fabulous new hair and outfit. But of course it decided to start raining right when I finished, so believe it or not these photos were actually shot in the rain. Thank goodness it was just a drizzle rather than a thunderstorm, but it was still not pleasant at all! I decided to shoot on my rooftop which has nice benches and lounge chairs that I thought would go well with the Lulu’s maxi dress I’m wearing. This dress was definitely made for warm and sunny days, but doesn’t it look warm and sunny in these photos? I even sat on the wet lounge chair for a relaxed vacation vibe. It was totally a make it work moment.
For my accessories, I went with a fruit theme and paired the dress with my Vera Bradley watermelon bag and the cutest pineapple espadrilles. These shoes are so comfy and cute, I’ve been wearing them non-stop since I got them. And the best part is they are only $84!
