Happy Friday loves! A few months ago I shot a kickstarter video for a handbag brand based in New York that just launched earlier this year. It was my first time shooting a brand video complete with a stylist, makeup and hair, and film crew. Needless to say it was super exciting, especially because the video is for a handbag company that is actually doing something good in fashion. Hebe Rose New York offers ethical handbags made from at least 60% recycled materials. That’s right, all the bags are made from materials found in the landfills of Southeast Asia. The two women who founded the brand, April and Barbara, actually traveled to Asia to see the landfills and source materials from there. This story really resonated with me and is what pushed me to be part of their kickstarter campaign.
What’s unique about these bags is that even though they are made from recycled materials such as plastic water bottles, you would never guess because they are so chic and stylish! I love the trendy details like the velvet tote, mini faux fur crossbody, and the sleek leather backpack that’s perfect for day to night. My favorite is the vintage-inspired Alexa Faux Fur muff, which you can see I have featured in this post before. All the bags are practical yet chic, designed for the New York girl in mind.
What I love the most about Hebe Rose New York is the story behind the brand and the two women who founded it. It’s rare for a brand to really connect with you on a personal level, and I have to say that April and Barbara are the most genuine women and truly believe in their brand. They both used to work in corporate fashion and decided to invest their life savings to start something meaningful that will actually make a difference. They’ve hit the ground running but need your help in keeping their ethical handbags going, so I hope you watch the kickstarter below and help support their cause. If what they’re doing resonates with you, please go to their kickstarter page and back their project. Every person counts!
