I love a good two piece outfit, especially when it comes in the form of bright colors and patterns. This vintage inspired two piece set caught my attention immediately when I was browsing Alice’s Pig, an online retailer with unique pieces based in London (they offer free shipping!). I was drawn to the bright orange color and plaid print, as well as the high-waisted skirt with the cutest orange buttons. There’s something so modest yet cool about this set, with the combination of the cropped top and pleated midi skirt. The top was actually a bit too long on me for it to be cropped given my petite frame, so I belted it and folded up some of the fabric to make it more cropped. A belt can solve so many styling problems!
To balance out the colorful and vintage vibe of the outfit, I chose my black MM6 metallic heel loafers for a sleek and modern touch. I also went with an orange shoulder bag to play off of the orange theme, as well as my orange Hermes medor bracelet. For my jewelry, I added a classic touch with the prettiest pink hoop earrings from Michal Golan. How gorgeous are the antique and feminine details on the earrings?! And finally, my nail art from Akiko serves as the best summer accessory ever!
I love the ease and versatility of a two piece set, as you are essentially set in your look if you want to wear the pieces together, but you also have the flexibility of paring them with different things. I can’t wait to style this skirt with a bustier for summer, and this top would go great with jeans for a more casual look. Also I have to admit that I’ve been obsessed with two piece sets ever since Taylor Swift started wearing them, and I’m basically her biggest fan.
