This head to toe polka dot look totally reminded me of Minnie Mouse, but all grown up. I did not intentionally dress up like Minnie Mouse, but when I put on this two piece polka dot set from SheIn, and matched it with my polka dot heels, it was inevitable for this to become a modern day Minnie Mouse outfit. So if you’re a fashion girl and also happen to love Disney (I mean who doesn’t right?!), this post is for you. Read on to see how I put this look together and the wardrobe malfunctions I experienced.
I’m about to get real here about this two piece set from SheIn. I’ve never had so many wardrobe malfunctions in one outfit. First of all, the top actually came with a matching separate bralette that is meant to be worn together with the ruffle piece. However, the bralette was HUGE and made for at least a bra size D. For reference, I ordered a M in the set and there was no option to order different sizes for the top and skirt. So I had to improvise and pair my own red lace bralette with the ruffle top instead. The skirt fit fine at the waist, but little did I know what issues it would cause until I actually wore it out. The slits on the skirt are so high that the moment I started walking, they would fly up and reveal my underwear. Luckily I had a pin with me, so I was able to pin the sides to make it wearable. I’m convinced that this set is actually made for the beach and not made for every day wear. I have to say that I was really disappointed with how horribly this outfit fit on all fronts and how dysfunctional it was, as I usually like SheIn pieces.
On the bright side, I was able to get some good photos and the outfit does look super cute. This is just another example of how photos do not match up with reality. These photos were actually shot on a film camera by the talented Carlos Landa, so they had to be developed with film rolls. I was super nervous because I couldn’t see the photos as they were being shot and there were only a limited amount of photos since they are on film rolls. But they out came super well, and all the photos have a vintage feel to them which is really cool and fits the outfit nicely. I chose Dumbo as the location for this outfit as I wanted to shoot in front of Jane’s Carousel for a sense of whimsy. Dumbo is a gorgeous spot for shoots and you really can’t go wrong.
