This white vintage dress totally reminded me of a wedding dress that a lady would wear back in the day. So when I received it, I knew that I wanted to style it in a cool and modern way. The dress itself is so gorgeous and is a classic 1970’s silhouette, and I fell in love with the delicate floral print and soft romantic fabric. It’s one of those pieces that looks so ethereal and makes you feel like the prettiest girl ever. Now if you’re wondering where I scored this gem, it is from a vintage online marketplace called Trendlistr. All the pieces on the site are highly curated and carefully selected with an eye towards style and quality. Vintage shopping can be overwhelming, especially when it’s done online. But Trendlistr has such an amazing selection of items that it’s not hard to find a piece that is vintage and wearable at the same time. The whole concept of Trendlistr is “vintage clothes for modern people,” and upon browsing the site you will see that the site is definitely true to its word. Read on to see how I made this vintage dress work for a modern look.
The first thing I did when it came to styling this dress is add a cool belt. This wide circle belt immediately gave the dress a modern look and also helped to cinch the waist. Since the dress is so girly, I decided to pair it with sneakers for a more dressed down vibe. However I did not just choose any sneakers, I chose sneakers with pearl embellishments on them so that it still goes with the theme of the dress. For my handbag, I debated between a vintage handbag or a modern one, and ultimately decided on a modern bag in a lilac color as there are hints of lilac in the dress as well. Styling a vintage piece is all about balance and finding those items that complement the piece and create harmony. I completed my modern vintage look with white vintage ear cuffs, a bright turquoise ring, and dainty bracelets.
So I know I say this all the time, but this vintage dress is definitely one of my favorite vintage finds. I love vintage dresses in general as they are inherently feminine and always have unique details on them that make the piece extra special. I love to stand out in the way I dress and make people stop and look, and vintage pieces always have that effect as they are so much more uncommon and different than what you would find in regular retail stores. If this post has inspired you to shop some vintage, a few more of my favorites from Trendlistr is this delicate vintage blouse and this vintage yellow maxi skirt.
