Last week, I shared my first NYFW outfit and tips on how to get photographed for NYFW street style features. Today, I’m sharing the remaining two outfits that I wore for NYFW SS18. I wasn’t able to professionally photograph all my looks during NYFW as I don’t have a dedicated photographer, but I definitely made sure to shoot my favorite outfits. This season I embraced the mentality of Go Big or Go Home, so I took risks in what I wore and I think they paid off!
This lingerie inspired look is definitely the boldest and most risque outfit I wore during NYFW. As you guys know I’m usually pretty feminine and ladylike in the way I dress, and don’t typically show off too much skin or go for the “sexy” vibe. But I figured there is no better time to try something new than during NYFW, and I was inspired by this vintage kimono robe to create a lingerie themed look. I paired the vintage kimono with a velvet bodysuit from Adore Me, and wore heart print tights to cover up my legs. I love the cheekiness of this look, and I definitely think the heart print helps soften up the vibe of this outfit.
For additional coverage, I chose navy knee high suede boots to complete the look. To further soften up the outfit, I went with the prettiest pink leather handbag from Walker + Olson, an up and coming NY-based brand. I met the founder Kevin Walker and he is the nicest person and so passionate about his company. He used to work at Calvin Klein and left to start his own handbag company based on the idea of luxury without the price. Similar to Everlane, the company is transparent with its pricing and does not mark up the price, and all the bags are handmade in Italy! I absolutely love the sleek design and of course the gorgeous pink color. Also a quick shoutout to amika styleblow for the coolest badass hairstyle to go with this look. My hairstylist teased the heck out of my hair to achieve this big topknot effect. If only I had someone doing my hair everyday!
This second look is a combination of cool girl meets nerdy chic. I fell in love with the details on this Daniel Silverstain denim dress the moment I saw it. How cool are all the hardware and zipper details?! I’ve never seen a denim dress quite like this, it’s just so unique! Also from Daniel Silverstain is the striped shirt underneath the dress. I love the candy striped feel that combined with the dress gives the outfit a cool retro vibe. In true nerdy fashion, of course I had to pair the dress with socks and loafers. I can never go wrong with my MM6 metallic heel loafers, they literally go with everything!
To add a pop of color, I went with a vintage yellow clutch, and kept with the retro vibe with my favorite round sunnies from Gentle Monster. Since my neck is pretty covered up and there are so many details on the dress, I completed the look with only one piece of jewelry: fun tassel earrings.
