It’s almost 2018! What are your plans for NYE? I’m probably going to take it easy and spend the night in with my boyfriend. There’s been a lot of ups and downs this year. When I look back at this time last year, I was trapped in a relationship that wasn’t working, had less than 10,000 followers on Instagram, and was just starting to make money from blogging. It’s crazy how much can change in one year. I broke up with my now ex-boyfriend, bought an apartment and moved to Brooklyn, and am now close to being able to earn a full-time income on the blog. I’m also so happy to have found my current boyfriend, something that I was not expecting and which took me by surprise. All in all, it’s been a year full of changes for the better, and I’m excited to see what 2018 brings.
This under $60 fit & flare velvet dress is perfect for a classy New Year’s Eve outfit. The pleated hem gives it an unexpected twist, and burgundy is always one of my favorite colors for Fall/Winter. For a touch of NYE sparkle, I layered a vintage sequin top underneath the dress. This top is totally Tina Turner style and the fun sleeves make me feel like dancing every time I wear it! Since I’m all about coordinated details, I chose wine red suede heels to match my dress. No NYE is complete without a cool clutch, so this Wren & Roch black and white one was the obvious choice. Finally, I completed the look with statement feather earrings from Nocturne Studio. I even got my hair and makeup done at the Julien Farel salon for a truly glamorous look. I can’t get enough of this intricate braided bun, it’s such a fun alternative to a blowout and is great for a night out.
