Last week, Adrian and I had an unconventional but fun date night at the Mazda party for the launch of the new Mazda 6 2018 signature vehicle. I was glad to finally have an event where I could bring the boyfriend and that he would actually enjoy! I’ve always associated Mazda with the Zoom Zoom commercials, but didn’t know too much about the brand and their cars outside of that. So I was excited to check out the new vehicle and have a fun night out.
One of the most exciting parts of the night was going on the Ride and Drive to test out the new car. Since I don’t often drive living in NYC, I wasn’t too comfortable driving a new vehicle, so I opted to just Ride instead. Mazda has a big focus on design and the idea that a car is more than just a car, with an emphasis on creating a special bond between the car and its driver. It was really cool to experience that during the Ride and Drive – I could definitely feel the energy of the Mazda employee who was driving us around in the car. He was super knowledgeable and in tune with the car. One of my favorite features was the sleek smart pad that allows you to control multiple functions, such as music, navigation, and heated seats.
No great party is complete without food and entertainment, and Mazda pulled out all the stops for this one. There was a special menu curated by celebrity chef Carla Hall from Top Chef, including a freshly made pasta station, which I’ve never seen at any other party before. I definitely overstuffed myself with all the yummy food, and it was totally worth it.
The other highlight of the night was an intimate concert performance by Ben Folds. I recognized his name but didn’t really remember his songs, but my boyfriend was super excited about this (he’s a bit older than I am hehe). It was a great way to end the night, he was killer on the piano and played some ballads that I really enjoyed.
For my outfit, I’m sure you might be surprised to see that I’m not wearing any color. But I had a reason for this – I purposefully chose black, white and grey because I assumed all the cars at the event would be the Mazda red, so so I would pop against the red. However, I was mistaken as all the cars at the party were grey! Oh well, I still looked pretty good against the cars, and at least I had a pink bag for a pop of color. To prevent this outfit from looking too business-like, I chose my Queen Bee shirt from Carol Viliotti to go with the black blazer. Of course I had to show some leg for a car event, so my fringe skirt was the perfect option. I also went with sophisticated jewelry including silver and gold rings and a black and gold bangle.
I would love to hear what you guys typically do on date night, and if you have any fun and unconventional ideas. I’m always looking for new things to do outside of dinner and a movie. Let me know in the comments below!
