The A-line midi skirt is a classic piece that every girl needs in her closet. It is the perfect balance of sophisticated and feminine, and can be classic and trendy at the same time. An A-line midi skirt is universally flattering, elongating the frame and cinching the waist. It also has great twirl factor since it flares out at the bottom. Whenever I wear an A-line midi skirt, I feel like a lady.
The great thing about the A-line midi skirt is that it can have a trendy pattern, but still look elegant. While this paneled colorblock skirt from Chicwish has an unconventional pattern and material (it is faux suede), the skirt still manages to look classic due to the shape. This piece actually reminds me of something a 1950s secretary might has worn, there is retro vibe with the color combinations and plaid panel. To make this skirt more modern and accentuate the waist, I paired it with a boho style cropped mustard yellow top, also from Chicwish.
Keeping with the boho-retro theme of this look, I chose a straw shoulder bag and leather slide sandals from EMU Australia. These sandals really grew on me – when I first got them, I wasn’t sure about the color combination and felt like they made my feet look wide. But styled the right way, they actually look super chic and elevated. I chose them for this outfit because the panels on the sandals match the panels on the skirt. They also pair well with cropped jeans for a casual Summer look. For an added modern element, I went with my statement gold “Question” earrings by Taylor Wilkinson. How fabulous are these earrings? They are so unique and I love how the gold plays off of the mustard yellow throughout the outfit.
