This past NYFW was a bit more low-key for me than previous seasons. I only did 4 out of the 7 seven days as I went to a friend’s wedding in between in LA. At first I was super stressed about missing out on shows for 3 days, but it turned out to be a welcome break from the NYFW madness. While it is one of the most exciting times of the year and I am very grateful to be able to attend, it is also very stressful and time-consuming. So this season I allowed myself to take it easy and not feel like I have to go to everything. Today’s blog post will focus on the outfits I wore for Day 1 & Day, but if you want to see what shows and events I went to, you can check out my first ever NYFW VLOG.
My NYFW 2018 Day 1 outfit was all about this feminine floral print glitter dress. I absolutely fell in love with this dress when I saw it at the Factory PR showroom. It is from the ASOS DESIGN collection and is basically everything I love in one dress. The mix of the floral print and sequin glitter hem is so unexpectedly cool and whimsical. And there’s no better time to bring out the sequins and glitter than for NYFW, am I right?!
I wanted to style this dress in a boho-feminine-vintage way, so I chose a gold chain belt to add a boho glam touch to the look. For my shoes, I had to go with my silver Mary Jane heels that have a glitter buckle to match the glitter sleeves and hem on the dress. I also decided to pair the heels with silver glitter socks for an extra pop of femininity. To achieve a vintage vibe, I completed the look with my floral wooden handle handbag from Modcloth. I can’t tell you how many people have though this bag was from Gucci! Lastly, I added a few more touches of sparkle with a sparkly vintage collar that matches the glitter hem and sleeves of the dress, and intricate statement chandelier earrings.
NYFW Day 2 was all about taking risks in this bold hot pink fringe look. This is actually originally a fringe dress, also from ASOS, but I decided to wear it as a top as I didn’t like the slip that came with it. I love the movement of the fringe and how bold and unapologetic this piece is. I paired it with a bralette underneath and high-waisted metallic leggings from Wear Commando. The combination of the hot pink and metallic definitely makes this outfit stand out, but could also go a bit tacky. So to avoid this, I added an oversized pink denim jacket to give this look a more street-style vibe.
I added more cool girl touches with my favorite Coach leather creepers that are the epitome of “ugly-chic”. For my bag, I chose a black leather box bag with cool embellishments on it from Evve Milano. The great thing about this bag is that is has pockets on both sides, so while it looks small, I was able to fit my camera on one side and all my essentials on the other. I completed the look with statement feather earrings that mirror the fringe movement, and a black and gold necklace.
