I know you’ve all been waiting for the rest of my NYFW outfits, so here they are! As mentioned in my NYFW 2018 Part 1 post, I only did 4 out of 7 days for NYFW this year, so today I’m sharing my outfits for Day 3 and Day 4. I had a lot of fun putting these looks together and taking some risks, because that’s what NYFW is all about!
My NYFW 2018 Day 3 outfit was a bit more edgier than my usual looks. As you know, I don’t wear jeans or pants very often, but jeans with bows on them are obviously an exception. This outfit was first and foremost inspired by this statement laced top by Galvan from Rent the Runway. The dramatic long ties on each side of the top immediately caught my attention and made me think of my bow jeans. So I knew these two pieces would be perfect together. Sometimes two statement pieces really can work together (as also seen in this post), it’s all about tying them together with a common element. In this case, not only do both pieces have bows/ties, they are also the same color. Thus, the top and jeans together look effortless, even though they are such statement pieces.
I used my accessories to add pops of color and texture to break up the all blue outfit. I chose green floral heeled sandals that remind me so much of Gucci, and paired them with chunky socks to work for the Summer to Fall transition period. I added pops of yellow with thin yellow sunglasses, and a vintage yellow handbag.
For my jewelry, I chose elevated gold pieces to give the outfit a sophisticated vibe. I went with my gold “Question” earrings from Taylor Wilkson Designs, paired with layered cosmic necklaces from SEQUIN, a wide gold cuff, and white stone ring.
I saved my favorite outfit for the last day of NYFW 2018. This vintage yellow dress is one of those pieces that I just couldn’t pass up, even though it had a tear in the shoulder when I bought it. Which leads to a funny story: I took this dress to my tailor with the idea of putting fruit patches on the dress to cover the tear, and my tailor asked me if this was for Halloween! And of course I told him Nope, just for fashion week. But I’m actually really pleased with how the patches came out, I added a strawberry one and watermelon one to cover the tear. Unfortunately, when I put the dress back on and tried to zip it up, the armpit also teared! The thing is this dress is too tight in the shoulder and arm area, but I thought I could make it work if I just didn’t move my arms as much. I was clearly wrong, and so last minute had to improvise and add a red jacket to cover up the tear under my arms. This tear just continued to get bigger and bigger throughout the day, so sadly I won’t be wearing this dress anymore, but at least I got cute photos of it!
To match the fruit patches, I chose a watermelon handbag for this outfit. I also added a pink collar to the yellow vintage dress for a super cutesy and doll-like effect. I completed the outfit with my favorite Kat Maconie ballerina flats, which further solidified the whimsical vibe of this look. Lastly, I added red poppy earrings to play off the red in the jacket and handbag.
