This is the year of the power suit for me, so today I’m showing you how to style a houndstooth suit two ways. There is something so effortlessly chic about wearing a power suit, it can be dominant yet feminine, classic yet trendy. This houndstooth suit is from Saks Off Fifth and is by their private label brand Pure Navy. I’m really into the menswear-inspired design and looser fit. The best part is the entire suit is currently on sale and is $120 combined for the jacket and pants!
I styled the suit with two different bags from Dooney & Burke. I’m excited to announce my partnership with them and feature on their website, where I share my favorite bags and day in the life as a fashion blogger. For this first outfit, I wanted to give the houndstooth suit a trendy vibe, so I paired it with a sporty striped crop top underneath. I added an additional element of fun with bold blue socks and yellow velvet mule sandals. For my bag, I chose the Dooney & Burke Beacon Janine Satchel in mustard yellow, which is the perfect color for Fall and transitions easily from day to night.
I also styled this houndstooth suit in a more casual outfit by pairing the pants with a striped shirt instead. I especially love menswear-inspired suits as the more relaxed fit enables you to wear them together or separately, and for this look I’m showcasing how you can style the pants into a whole new outfit. I chose a ruffle cut-out blouse from PINKO to take this outfit out of the workplace and more into a brunch/weekend setting. The Dooney & Bourke purple shoulder bag was the perfect way to complete this look – I just love the orange shoulder strap that adds an unexpected pop of color. You could also style this look with the blazer as well for a more work appropriate outfit.
