This NYFW 2020, I focused on having fun and being present. NYFW can be a stressful time for bloggers – there is pressure to attend every show and event, capture content at all times, and pretty much always be “on”. I realized that I had stopped enjoying myself and was going to things out of obligation, with little or no benefit to my blogging career. So this NYFW, I made the decision to take a step back and actually enjoy myself. I looked at the week as a reward to all my hard work and a perk to being a fashion blogger. I went to shows that I truly enjoy and align with my style, including Tadashi Shoji, Bibhu Mohapatra, and Cynthia Rowley, as well as visiting the team at Farfetch. I went to events to see my friends and didn’t worry too much about doing IG stories non-stop or networking for the sake of networking. I even worried less about being photographed by street style photographers, and put together my outfits based solely on my style rather than what’s trending or more likely to get photographed. By the end of the week, I felt inspired and refreshed rather than stressed and worn out. The week gave me the motivation I needed to jump back into creating content and reminded me why I love fashion in the first place.
One of my favorite shows of the week was Tadashi Shoji. I was dressed by the designer for the show and chose a green polka dot dress with a dramatic drape, layered over a metallic body suit. I was so happy to find that Tadashi Shoji makes bodysuits in addition to their signature dresses, as Winters in NYC are no joke and I had to layer the dress over something! I love how the look turned out as the bodysuit totally makes the dress more edgy and street style cool. I chose my white Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots to complete the look, along with a green handbag and pearl necklace.
For day 2 of NYFW 2020, I went with a more casual look and chose a floral silk blazer and blouse from Kobi Halperin, paired with denim chain fringe jeans. You’ll notice that I’m wearing some sheer floral socks – they are actually samples from my sock line that’s launching this Fall! Figured I would give you guys a sneak peek 😉 I competed the look with a suede fringe handbag and orange “Fancy” earrings
Day 3 of NYFW 2020 was definitely my favorite outfit of the week. I stopped at the Farfetch styling suite earlier in the week and was able to pull some amazing pieces to put together this look. I instantly gravitated towards a floral print set from La DoubleJ, along with the biggest hair bow ever from Jennifer Behr. I am totally obsessed with this hair bow and feel like it’s made for me! I added some street style edge to the look with a cropped fur coat from Shrimps. I absolutely love the fun balloon sleeves on this coat! To tie the look together and pull into the blue from the hair bow, I layered a sheer blue dress over the floral set, along with blue ruffle socks and leopard clogs. This is my favorite outfit of the week as it absolutely expresses my individualism and personal style, and I didn’t worry about what’s trending and just had fun with it!
My last day of NYFW was a rainy one, so of course I had to go with my favorite clear rain coat from Unique Vintage. I didn’t have a photoshoot planned for this day but was lucky enough to be snapped by my girl Ashley, and this shot actually ended up in Nylon’s NYFW Street Style Round-Up! I wanted to bring some sunshine to the rainy day, so I chose my yellow vintage dress to go under the raincoat. Clear raincoats are such a great way to show off your outfit! I completed the look with colorful sunglasses from LaFont Paris and my yellow handbag.
