When in Doubt, Wear Black

Topshop blazer, Free People Dress, Kate Spade bag, Coach booties (here), H&M necklace

Whenever I'm feeling down or wake up on the wrong side of the bed, I always turn to black clothing for a boost of confidence and an extra spring in my step. My favorite black pieces just have the power to transform my mood and make me feel good both inside and out. I know that I can't go wrong with a black outfit, and that helps me takes on the day with renewed energy and a positive outlook!

This outfit has both of my favorite black pieces - this little black dress is the perfect combination of classic femininity with a boho touch, and the black blazer is a piece that I've worn countless times dressed up for a work meeting or dressed down with jeans for brunch. So when I came across the Woolite and Dress for Success' Capturing Confidence video about how the power of dark clothing can give someone the confidence they need, I decided to donate the two black pieces in this outfit to support the cause. There's something intangibly great about knowing that my pieces will be worn by another woman on an important day in her life. I hope this post inspired you to donate your own dark pieces to Dress for Success!

Exceptionally Windy with Floral Booties

Alexander McQueen coat, Vintage blouse & skirt, Coach bandit bootie (here), Chloe Drew bag (here)

Took these photos a few weeks ago on an exceptionally windy and chilly day. I was originally planning to take photos without the coat but unfortunately it was just too cold! I had been eyeing these Coach floral booties for a while, and when I received some good news, I rewarded myself and bought them. It's definitely been my best Spring purchase to date, I find that the boots go with everything and I just love them so much!

What's your favorite Spring shoe?

Lindi Lip Balm & Face Wash Product Review

Lindi Face Wash, Lindi Lip Balm

I was asked to try out a few products from a specialty skin care brand called Lindi Skin. Originally designed for cancer patients, Lindi claims to treat even the driest, most cracked skin. This caught my attention as I chronically suffer from dry lips and skin, and in all the products that I've tried, nothing has really seemed to work for me. I picked the Lip Balm and Face Wash, and was especially interested in the lip balm. I've had chapped lips for most of my life, and almost every lip balm I've tried has just made my lips more chapped.

When I received the product,  I was definitely encouraged by the pretty, spa-like packaging and premium feel. I started out with the lip balm, which comes in an appealing color and pleasant smell. Unfortunately, it did end up making my lips feel more chapped, so I think I'm probably allergic to one or more of the ingredients in the balm. I then tried the face wash, which has a nice texture and easy-to-use pump. The face wash seemed to work pretty well and left my skin feeling soft and cleansed, but I'm not a fan of the medicinal-like smell. So net-net, not a bad product but I don't think I would recommend it to a friend.
