Tied at the Waist

Vintage shirt (from Awoke Vintage), Urban Outfitters pants, Jeffrey Campbell wedges, No Name bag, Vintage bracelet

I wore this casual outfit for a quick brunch last weekend before packing up my apartment: I tied a vintage shirt at the waist and threw on a pair of high-waisted pants. The boyfriend and I just moved in together to a new place in the Financial District this Wednesday, so we've been busy getting settled in and figuring out where to put all my clothes ;) We took a trip to IKEA today and everything is coming together nicely (the boy is putting together the wardrobe as I write up this post), and I'm in love with the new space and change of scenery. More to come in a bit, hope everyone has a wonderful July 4th!

Restyle Your Bridesmaid Dress for Date Night

With wedding season in full swing, bridesmaid dresses are everywhere! Although I haven't been a bridesmaid myself just yet, I've heard so many friends complain about how they've had to buy an expensive bridesmaid dress, only to wear it once before it becomes lost in the depth of their closets. But really, what makes a dress a "bridesmaid" dress? I think that as long as it's a pretty dress, you could restyle it any way you want and get tons of wear out of it! So today I'm showing you how I would restyle a bridesmaid dress into a fun and flirty summer date night look.

The above bridesmaid dress on Weddington Way caught my eye with its bright peach color and feminine shape. I gave the dress a casual vibe by pairing it with a denim vest, and for romantic touches I added a garland for the hair and a lace bra. For shoes, I would totally wear this dress with lace-up sandals, and carry the coveted Chloe Drew bag in a lovely peach color. To dial-up the flirtatious vibe, I would pile on stacked rings and delicate layered bracelets, and finish the look with peach Essie nail polish and a pretty mauve color for the lips. This look would be great for a dinner date, whether it's your first date or for a special occasion!

West Village Alleyway

Vintage top & shorts (from Artists & Fleas), Rachel Roy loafers, Kate Spade bag, Vintage collar

I stumbled upon this almost hidden alleyway while walking around in West Village. The moment I saw it I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for a blog picture. I'm wearing almost all vintage in this outfit: both the crop top and polka dot shorts are from Artists & Fleas in Willamsburg, and I've got a vintage pearl collar on from the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market. I love the quirky and unexpected elements of this outfit, and also knowing that it's highly unlikely I'll bump into anyone on the street with the same pieces!
