Velvet boots is undoubtably one of the biggest trends for Fall, and I’ve been
eyeing stalking a few pairs trying to decide which one(s) I want to purchase. There are so many cute options and styles at multiple price points that it’s hard to just pick one! So if you’re like me and wondering which pair is right for you, hopefully this shopping guide will help you out.
Solid colored ankle boots are the most classic style and great for everyday wear. I’m particularly loving colors in rich burgundy, blush pink, and a cool navy. From a style standpoint, I’m really digging the Topshop pair with a pointy toe and low heel. So versatile and cool girl chic. I also like the deep red color of the Dorothy Perkins pair, but it will be harder to pair with different outfits. If you’re looking for a more classic option, gray and black are always safe bets.
If you’re more of a print girl like me and are looking for a statement boot, patterned and embellished styles are so fun and whimsical. Options range from floral to baroque to animal print. Again, I’m loving the same Topshop style but with a floral print, as well as the baroque style Factory pair from Nasty Gal in grey. The Asos pair with the bedazzled heel is also super cute and great for just a pop of embellishment, and surprisingly enough all sizes are still available for this pair. Kind of a miracle considering how quickly Asos typically runs out of sizes.
So of course these splurge options take the patterns and embellishments to a whole other level. The Candela pair from Anthropologie with a pink floral print basically has my name on it and would look so cute with a floral dress or grey sweater dress. I’m also digging the electric print of the MSGM pair, and for an investment boot you can’t go wrong with the Aquazzura baroque pair. If I had to choose one style of velvet boots to purchase, I would probably go with a patterned/embellished pair since I feel like velvet boots are meant to make a statement and be fun.
The over the knee trend continues, but this time on steroids with velvet. This style is best for those of you who LOVE velvet, as to be honest it really is a lot of velvet and is more of an acquired taste. Personally, I don’t know if I could pull off a pair of velvet OTK boots, but if styled correctly I do think it could look cute and definitely attract a lot of attention. As a color person, of course I gravitate towards the non-black options. I really like the navy Factory pair from Nasty Gal, as well as the mink pair from Asos. The key to OTK velvet boots is the styling, as they can go from chic to cheesy very easily. I would likely pair them with something more covered-up and understated on top.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this velvet boots shopping guide and found it helpful! I’d love to hear which options are your favorite in the comments below. Nothing like some online shopping to overcome mid-week blues 🙂
