Every day, I fall more and more in love with my new neighborhood Brooklyn Heights. I have never felt so at home, which is a good thing since I bought my apartment (haha!). Every corner I turn, I discover a new charming street, pretty building, or quaint door. This shoot was taken at the intersection of Cranberry and Hicks Street, where I stumbled upon a cute little white house with a red door. Believe it or not, the white house is actually a vet hospital! Yep, even hospitals are charming in Brooklyn Heights 🙂 The red door and bench really spoke to me and draws out the colors of my floral shirt dress, so naturally we had to shoot in front of it. We also found a turquoise colored restaurant around the corner, which of course called for some more photos.
Now onto the actual outfit, this floral shirt dress from SheIn is only $26 and looks way more expensive. I wore it on two separate occasions and both times got so many compliments! It is perfect for those cooler summer days, and is super breezy and easy to throw on and go. I love the knot detail in the middle that cinches the waist and gives the dress a pretty (and literal) twist. I’m wearing a size S and it fits just right. To give the dress some edge, I paired it with my MM6 metallic heel loafers. I’m been all about pairing contrasting pieces with each other lately, I think the effect is really cool.
For my accessories, I paired the dress with a beloved vintage handbag for a feminine vibe. I added white tassel earrings since the dress does not allow for a necklace. I completed the look with stacked rings and my fabulous ombre nail art thanks to Akiko Nails. The great thing about this outfit is that it works for both work and weekend. Everyone needs a floral shirt dress in their closet, especially when it’s $26!
